The Shichon is a cross between the Shih Tzu and the Bichon Frise. They can weigh from 4kg up to 12kg. Their height can be upto 12 inch from floor to withers. They love to be close to their owners and family and can suffer with anxiety, so training to be on their own will help . Coats can be straight, wavy or curly. Colours are: Solid white, Cream, Apricot, Blue, Black, Brindle, Brown and Chocolate, all these colours can be mixed with white. The Shichon can also be called a Zuchon, both names are the same cross of dog (Shih Tzu x Bichon Frise). They are also known by the Teddy bear. They all love to learn tricks but can also be stubborn. Some can find it hard to learn toilet training and can be 12 months before they get it, but some will get it straight away. They also have the Bichon Blitz, this is when they can go mad running around for 5 or 10 minutes. This cross rarely suffer with health issues (depending on breeding and health tests). They can have a underbite, but this does not really affect them at all. Hernias are also known in the breed, but again this can be sorted during a spay. Or they can be left alone with regular checking to make sure it does not change in size or goes hard. Some during teething can get closed nostrils, but most outgrow this and by the time they are around 6 months do not have any issues. They can also have the reverse sneeze, this is when they are snorting like they can not get their breath, but again this does not bother them and can be eased with rubbing the neck or putting fingers over the nostrils. Some Shichons can be barkers, so they will need training. The Shichon is good with all ages, they just love to be with you. But like every breed they have to be watching incase your children do something and the dogs tries to tell them off. But beware it's like having a toddler in the house when they have strops and they love play with their toy's by throwing them everywhere. They do need trimming every 4 to 6 weeks depending on how you want their coat. for allergy sufferers it is best to keep the body short. They also need to be brushed daily. They are hypoallergenic so are better for people who do have allergies. They can still lose hair just like we do, so if you do have allergies keep hair short. They also love to try to talk to you or answer you back. They can give you the look to say they are not happy. So if all this is still sounding good and you do not mind a toddler with sometimes a teenagers attiude the Shichon could be the dog for you.
